What is Kuchnia
Kuchnia (Kitchen in Polish) is the beating heart of every Polish household. Kuchnia is the hub, a place where you meet, talk, laugh and cry. A safe space where good memories are made.
Growing up during 1980 and 1990s in rapidly changing Poland, Kuchnia was the safe haven, a refuge from the crazy outside world. Kuchnia was where you got back to after a whole day of playing outside as a kid. OBIAD! (Dinner in Polish) - shouted out by mums from kitchens’ windows, was the call to go home to re-charge and feast on homely, wholesome, delicious meals made with love and care.
A ‘wind of change’ brought new cuisines never known to Poles before. One specific dish however has found its special place in Polish culinary landscape, and that dish is Kebab. Doner or Shawarma (AKA Gyros) served in either crispy-grilled or soft-rolled freshly baked flat bread became the go-to-guilty-pleasure-treat for millions of Poles.
Simple, quality ingredients, carefully put together to create flavours and textures specific only to Polish and Eastern European cuisine. Schabowy, Golabki, Placek po Cygansku, Pierogi, Bigos, Zrazy, Kluski, Pyzy, Zeberka, Kielbasa z grila, Kapusta, Barszcz, Krupnik, Kapusniak, and Zur are just some of the classics that will feature alongside Kebab on our seasonally changing menu. These are the dishes that every Pole will recognise and love, and for those who haven’t tried those yet, well you’re in for a treat!
Now be like Copernicus, Chopin, Marie Currie, Pope Jan Paul the 2nd and Lewandowski and eat GOLOBKI!
