TELUS Health MyPet FAQs
Who is TELUS Health MyPet for?
TELUS Health MyPet is for Canadians currently without a family vet, who require healthcare for their dog or cat outside of regular veterinary business hours, or who need vet services when a regular family vet is not available.
When should I book a Healthcare vs. Wellbeing consult?
If you are concerned about new symptoms or suspect your pet may need medication or an adjustment to a current medication, book a Healthcare consult with a vet.
If you have questions about, or would like help with behaviour, training, weight management and nutrition, life stage care, or preventive care, book a Wellbeing consult with a vet tech.
What can TELUS Health MyPet veterinarians treat?
We recommend going to an in-person vet clinic if your pet requires a physical examination. For medical emergencies, please contact your nearest Emergency Veterinary Hospital.
Vets on the app can help with wellness, triage, diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions in dogs and cats. After seeing a vet, you will be given a treatment plan which may include a referral for a physical exam, prescriptions and/or diagnostic tests.
Common concerns include:
* Nutritional and weight management
* Allergies (itching, hair loss, skin lesions)
* Behavioral issues (anxiety, aggression)
* Stomach upset (vomiting & diarrhea)
* Parasite control (ticks, fleas)
* Most minor infections (eye, ear, skin)
* Chronic disease management
* Post-surgical care support
* Palliative care and quality of life discussions
* Life stages (kitten/puppyhood, geriatric care)
If you have more than one health concern to discuss, the vet will address your highest priority issue first. If not all of your pet's health concerns are addressed, we encourage you to book another consult the following day.
The vet may decide that an in-person visit is required to ensure your pet receives appropriate care.
Who are the veterinarians?
TELUS Health MyPet vets are experienced professionals, registered with provincial colleges and licensing bodies and qualified to practice in the relevant provinces of Canada. They are trained to provide video-based care and operate at high clinical standards.
All consults booked through the app will be automatically scheduled in English.
Vets are affiliated with clinics in their respective provinces. Visit telus.com/mypet to learn more.
