Hosanna Hymnbook · 説明
Hymns are a gift from God to worship and glorify Him, and it is a prayer with a melody that gives our heart to God with praise.
Sudanese Church has historically sung hymns by oral tradition and memory. So, it was always difficult to sing them in worship because the same songs would be sung with different melodies and lyrics. Also the hymns that were not sung frequently were forgotten. We were able to gather lyrics for many songs, but a majority of the songs could not be sung because of the lack of musical accompaniments. So in order to preserve the Sudanese Church's hymns we have made sheet music.
It is our hope that through this "South Sudanese and Sudanese Hymnbook", the Sudanese Church will be able to worship God with unified lyrics and melodies.
This hymnbook also includes lyrics, sheet music and chords for 461 popular songs from South Sudan and Sudan regions (South Sudan Praises, Sudan Praises, Arabic Praises, Foreign Praises). The Arabic songs have been written in roman characters so that everyone could sing along with the melody. The first line of each song has been used as the title and they are organized by category and seasons. For songs with original writers, the composers and lyricist names were added. An additional study guide is added to this hymnbook to help individuals study and read sheet music.
For the past 5 years and through the help of South Sudanese and Sudanese pastors, praise leaders, and Sudanese individuals in the diaspora (Canada, USA, Australia, Sweden, and Egypt). This hymnbook is the fruit of their continuous hard work. We gathered these praise lyrics which were scattered. This hymnbook has unified songs that had previously been sung differently in churches. Most of the composers for the South Sudanese Praise songs are difficult to find so different worship leaders came together to standardize these songs, while the Sudan Praise songs were confirmed by the original composers and worship leaders.
With the help of praise leaders, the songs were recorded and sheet music was created by 'Seonghee Hong (Esther)'. The biblical and theological basis for the lyrics were confirmed and checked by pastors. We want to thank all of the Composers and Sudanese individuals who have helped and specially, we thank “Hosanna Worship Ministry Team” for their sacrifice and continuous work in making this hymnbook. We thank ‘Alec’ for creating this Hosanna app.
The Sudanese hymns are filled with the Spirit. These songs are a part of the history of the Sudanese church and an inheritance that needs to be passed on. We are thankful that through this hymnbook these spiritual praises will be continued for many generations to come.
”In that day, the Lord will reach out his hand a second time
to reclaim the remnant that is left of his people from Cush.”
With the hope that God's promise will be fulfilled in Sudan and South Sudan, We will pray that God's joy will be filled in the hearts of individuals as they sing praises in the Sudanese Churches.
