The application offers a prayer in suffrage for the souls in Purgtorio.

Suffrage: word that derives from the Latin verb suffragari which means: to help, to support, to help. In various ways the Church teaches us that we can support the souls of our dearly departed: with the celebration of Holy Masses, with the merits we acquire by carrying out works of charity, with the application of indulgences. We ask the Lord to forgive them for all the evil they have committed and to welcome them into his Kingdom of peace and justice,


Each of our sins has a double consequence, generates guilt and entails a penalty. While the guilt, which we can conceive as the breaking or disfigurement of friendship with God, is remitted by sacramental absolution in confession (through which God cancels the offense received), the punishment remains even beyond absolution. Temporal punishment is therefore not to be conceived as God's revenge but as the time necessary for us to regenerate our ability to love God above all else.

On this path of perfection and purification we are not alone, but like rock climbers engaged in a climb we are linked to each other by an invisible but real bond, which the Church calls the Communion of Saints.

In this context we can affirm the importance of the prayers of suffrage and the indulgences with which we help our deceased, shortening the times of their purification. We therefore consider it a highly meritorious work to remember those who have done us good, to continue to feel close to them and in solidarity with them on the path of purification they are undertaking in Purgatory.

The prayers addressed to God for the souls who currently find themselves in a state of waiting and need will also be a way to make friends, as the Gospel would say, who "will welcome us one day into the eternal homes".
