Perm’ is a city in Eastern European Russia, the capital of the Perm’ territory and, despite being administratively separated from it, of the Permskij district.
Perm’, a city closed in Soviet times, today is a vibrant urban center with a rich artistic tradition, and has opened its doors to visitors.
Workers' center in the past, often associated with the image of the gulags, the "city of salt" is now rediscovered as the capital of culture. And it pays tribute to dance, thanks to the legacy left by the well-known Russian theatrical impresario, Sergei Diaghilev, born here, in the shadow of the Urals.
According to a popular legend, the inhabitants of Perm’ in Russia have ears of salt. As Perm’ is an industrial capital in the vicinity of some of the most important salt and mineral mines in all of Russia, it is said that workers once carried so many sacks of salt on their shoulders that a saline layer always clung to their skin.
