Timurtaş Hodja, known for his harsh preaching, has been arrested many times for his sermons. Timurtaş Hodja, who served as Malatya preacher and deputy mufti of Muş, was appointed Istanbul Mufti Chief Muavin in 1976 and gave sermons at Şehzadebaşı and Eminönü New Mosque until 1979. He was dismissed due to the 1980 revolution.
