Tablet Talk: A dialogue tool

Tablet Talk is a dialogue tool for conversations with children and young people. The child can use visual forms of expression in an intuitive and free way and is allowed to express themselves, even when things are difficult to put into words.

You choose which topics you want to talk about and in what order, and there are no “good” or “bad” answers.

Tablet Talk was developed with, and for, professionals who conduct challenging conversations with children. Their experience is that an app as a tool can be exciting for children, have a unifying effect (“we do something together”) and feel less confrontational.

VISUAL FORMS OF EXPRESSION
- Animated visualizations that the child can tap and change. E.g. uses the themes adults, other children, school and sleep a slider, so that when the child moves the slider the picture, facial expression, mood and distance between the people change.

PERSONALIZE THE CONVERSATION:
- The child and the adult personalize the conversation by entering a name, choosing an avatar and house when you start a new conversation.

START-UP VIDEO:
- A new conversation starts with a start-up video that shows the adult's concern for the child. The adult thinks about the child and goes to visit to see how the child is doing.
- The video takes the conversation out of the physical space and into the child's everyday life that the conversation is about.

PICTURES AND GALLERY
- On each conversation topic you can take a picture of the screen, to remember what you talked about.
- At the end of the conversation you will come to the Picture Gallery, where you can look through the pictures and talk about what today's conversation was about.
- In the Picture Gallery you can also delete individual pictures.
