Synonimy · Description
The best dictionary of Polish synonyms now on your phone.
The inspiration to write a synonym dictionary "When Your Words Run Out" was a dictionary of synonyms ... English Jerome Rodale's The Synonym Finder. This dictionary is very extensive (over a million synonyms) and easy to use: the entries are arranged in alphabetical order, thanks to which you can quickly reach the sought-after word and its synonyms.
A similar dictionary of synonyms of the Polish language, which would combine a large number of entries and their alphabetical arrangement, was not available on the market in the 1980s, when I decided to start to create such a dictionary.
Arranging When you run out of words, I tried to include as many passwords as possible. I have created each password individually, distinguishing their separate meanings and not limiting themselves only to synonymous words, but giving as many phrases as possible. The choice of synonyms is very rich; for example, I quickly give them 75, and to the adjective I found 121 words and synonyms.
In most cases, I treated the verbs separately in the form of an accomplished and imperfect, and I took into account the returnable forms. If an adjective has a corresponding adverb, then the latter has been treated extensively. At the nouns' slogans, I gave them diminutive and thickened forms. The dictionary contains obsolescent words, historicisms and profanities. In addition to words, I have also included expressions extensively.
The paper version of the dictionary had two editions: the first in 2005, and the second edition, over 42 thousand. passwords on about 1200 pages. It is still available for mail order.
Daily contact with the language is a permanent source of new entries - and the online version of the dictionary allows it to be regularly completed.
Certainly it is not a perfect job, choice of slogans and selection of subjective synonyms, so I will be grateful for any comments.
