Addiction treatment North Netherlands treats people who suffer from different types of addictions in all grades. What patients have in common is that they can withstand difficult stimuli between treatments. Suzie is the app that helps them with this; Suzie calms down in an exciting situation, reducing the incentive to use. Thanks to Suzie, the storm is over.

Suzie is an app that supports clients with:

- emotion regulation
- behavioral change
- crisis management


The app can be used with different target groups:

- clients with various problems: psychological problems, psychiatric disorders, developmental disorders, personality disorders and addiction.
- clients of all ages: children, young people, adults and the elderly.
- clients within different treatment settings: ambulant, part-time, clinical, residential and forensic.


The purpose of using the app is:

- encouraging self-management
- reducing harmful behavior for the client and others
- promoting effectiveness and continuity of treatment / guidance


Advantages of the app over a paper or digital version of a signaling plan:

- the content of the app can be precisely adjusted to the individual wishes and needs of the user
- the app contains text, but personal photos, videos and music can also be stored
- contacts can easily be reached via the app
- the app only provides information that is desired at a certain moment and not anymore
- the app is always within reach via the mobile phone

The app is intellectual property of drs. M. Westera, psychotherapist and GIOS, working at Addiction Care Northern Netherlands. If requested, expertise can be promoted with regard to the use and application of the app. scientific research is also being conducted into the effect of their use.
