Salmo 40 · Description
I have put all my hope in the Lord; he leaned towards me and heard my cry for help.
He brought me out of a pit of destruction, out of a mire of mud; set my feet on a rock and set me in a safe place.
He has put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see this and fear, and trust in the Lord.
Happy is the man who puts his trust in the Lord, and does not go after the proud, those who turn away to follow false gods!
Lord my God! How many wonders have you done! The plans you have prepared for us cannot be recounted! I wanted to proclaim them and announce them, but they are too numerous!
Sacrifice and offering you did not ask, but you opened my ears; burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require.
Then I said, “Here I am!” In the book it is written about me.
I delight in doing your will, O my God; your law is in the depths of my heart.
I proclaim the tidings of righteousness in the great assembly; as you know, Lord, I do not close my lips.
I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness and your salvation. I do not hide your faithfulness and your truth from the great assembly.
Do not withhold your mercy from me, O Lord; may your love and your truth always protect me.
For countless troubles surround me, my faults have caught up with me and I can no longer see. They are more numerous than the hairs on my head, and my heart has lost heart.
Delight, O Lord, to set me free; make haste, Lord, to help me.
Let all those who seek to take my life be humiliated and frustrated; let those who desire my ruin turn back, despised.
Let those who mock me be shocked at their own disgrace.
But let all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; let those who love your salvation always say, “Great is the Lord!”
As for me, I am poor and needy, but the Lord cares about me. You are my help and my deliverer; My God, don't delay!
