Rail Record APP
This isn't a "departure boards" get me home app, it shows information in advance which may or may not run. Not all of the trains shown on this app will be running and platform data may be inaccurate.
This app lets you:
- Search for non passenger trains, railtours and freight
- Set push alerts for these services
- Get notified about VSTP schedules at your chosen location
- Open schedules in RR and RTT
- Save schedules for offline access
An comprehensive FAQ is available via the app, but here some popular questions.
1) How do I know if a train is running?
- When you search by location, a yellow, green or red banner is shown. Yellow means the train is activated in TRUST railway system, and may run. Green means the train is running and shows its last report, and red means it is cancelled.
2) The platform was incorrect?
- The app is not a departure board app, and the platform shown is the booked platform from the timetable. If the signaller routes the train into a different platform we cannot know this far in advance.
3) What is a headcode? Eg 5B90
- This is the train's signalling ID. It is unique to that train each day on that particular part of the network.
4) What constitutes Passenger, ECS, Special?
- Passenger is your average commuter train
- ECS is an empty to depot, out of services passenger train
- Special is anything that is out of the ordinary. This could be a freight train, rail head conditioning train or rail excursion.
5) What is WTT, VAR, STP, VSTP?
- WTT - a base schedule planned months in advance, like daily passenger and booked freight
- VAR - a variation in route or timings of WTT, to avoid engineering works or timing changes
- STP - a Short Term Plan service which is not a regular occurence
- VSTP - a Very Short Term Plan service, maybe a retimed freight train or emergency timetable due to floods etc. If you're an enthusiast, alerts for VSTPs can be set at your chosen locations.
6) How do I find the next services at X?
- Go to the location page (default when you start the app) , search for a location (eg Epsom), set "Now" on ON, and then services will be shown.
