Abdul Rahman Ibn Abdul Aziz as-Sudais was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 1960. He is the imam of the Grand mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Al-Sudais comes from the Anza clan, and he had memorized the Quran by the age of 12. Al-Sudais became the Imam at the Grand Mosque in Mecca in 1984 and started leading the prayers (Salah/namaz) at the age of 22 and he has been leading the Taraweeh with Sheikh Saud Al-Shuraim since 1991. Al Sudais was the "Islamic Personality of the Year" in 2005. Al-Sudais has called for efforts to combat terrorism, preached Islam's opposition to "explosions and terrorism", and has called for peaceful inter-faith dialogue.
Saud ibn Ibrahim ibn Muhammad al-Shuraim was born in January 19, 1964 is one of the Imams and khateeb of the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram) in Mecca. He holds a doctorate (Ph.D) and is a Professor of Sharia and Islamic studies at the Umm al-Qura University in Mecca, and was recently appointed as a Dean and "Specialist Professor in Fiqh" at the University. In 1991, he was made Imam and Khateeb of Masjid al-Haram by the order of King Fahd. In 1992, he was appointed judge in the High court of Makka.
