Note: TRUCE is intended for enterprise customers and is not intended for consumer use.
Keep your workers safe by preventing distracted driving and other dangerous behaviors based on context. While driving a company vehicle, TRUCE automatically turns on Do Not Disturb while driving and shows a simplified user interface. TRUCE will allow calls from approved numbers (such as dispatch), while blocking calls from unapproved numbers, and playing an audible alert with the caller's name or number read aloud, so the driver knows to call them back when they stop driving or to pull over and call them back immediately based on who is calling. TRUCE will read aloud incoming text messages, and automatically respond to text messages and let others know that you are driving distraction free, but their messages are still getting through.
TRUCE Distracted Driving works by placing beacons inside company vehicles. TRUCE detects when in a moving vehicle and collects location data, to determine how fast the vehicle is moving. Therefore, TRUCE requires background location both to collect GPS samples, and to scan for Bluetooth Low Energy beacons. Location data may be sent to our servers to help improve our product and troubleshoot issues with moving vehicle detection. Also, location data may be sent to our servers to support Drive Performance features.
Administrators may log in to our enterprise management console to manage devices. Devices are identified by the associated phone number. During installation users will be prompted to enter their phone number in order to log in to TRUCE.
Configurable policies include:
1. Auto SMS response: While driving, TRUCE will automatically respond to text messages with a custom message. Requires SMS permission
2. Alert for Incoming calls: While driving, TRUCE will read out the callers name for unapproved numbers. Requires Call Log permission. Call Log data may be sent to our servers to help improve our product and to troubleshoot this feature.
3. Read incoming SMS: While driving TRUCE will read aloud incoming SMS messages. Requires SMS permission.
4. Manage phone calls: Non approved incoming phone calls are ended while driving. When the vehicle stops moving, a list of ended calls is available. Requires Phone permission.
5. Approved numbers: Calls from approved numbers will always be allowed through when phone calls are being managed. Requires Call Log permission. Call Log data may be sent to our servers to help improve our product and to troubleshoot this feature.
6. Enable passenger mode. Uses the phone's cameras to detect when the device is not in the driver's seat of a vehicle, and exits management. Requires Camera permission.
7. Manage application usage: While driving, show the TRUCE Managed Screen, which provides quick access to approved applications, contacts, and phone numbers with a simple, native looking interface. Requires Draw Over Other apps and Do Not Disturb Access.
8. New Managed Screen: Shows a simple and native like managed screen experience. Optionally, users may enable External Storage permission, and have their custom system wallpaper appear on the New Managed Screen.
9. Approved Applications: Administrators may select approved applications either by category (Navigation or Music) or specify Approved Apps individually. Requires Usage Data Access permission.
10. Drive Performance: Calculated driving score based on harsh braking events. Requires background location.
TRUCE utilizes an accessibility service to perform the following functions:
• Draw the TRUCE management UI over the screen
• See which application is in the foreground (enables Approved Applications while in management)
• Detect that the keyboard is visible
• Press the back button to dismiss the keyboard or unapproved app while in management
