Greek (Greek Ελληνική γλώσσα [elinici ɣlosa] or ελληνικά [Elinika]) is a native language of Greece, which belongs to the Greek branch of Indo-European languages.
Most of the Bible was written in two languages: Hebrew and Greek. Its writers used those guided by the Holy Spirit of God (2 Samuel 23: 2) languages. So we can say that it is "inspired of God" (2 Timothy 3:16, 17).
It is the Indo-European language with the largest documented history, since it has more than 3400 years of written evidence. The writing system used for most of its history and even today is the Greek alphabet. Previously used other systems such as Linear B or Cypriot syllabary. The Greek alphabet derived from the Phoenician, and in turn gave rise to the Latin alphabets, Cyrillic and Coptic, among others.
Most importantly it reflects the lexicon of all literary authors and documentary texts from the Mycenaean period to the end of antiquity, taking advantage of the latest literature on lexicography, lexicology, semantics, linguistics and etymology of ancient Greek.
Greek occupies an important place in the history of Europe, the so-called Western civilization and Christianity.
