Why is it important to monitor your INR?:
Your INR (International Normalised Ratio) reading is a way of measuring the time it takes for your blood to clot. This is achieved through a regular blood test called an INR test. This will be tested either by your GP, anticoagulant clinic or physician (or self-tested) to ensure that your prescribed dose is correct. If your INR reading is too high, you are at greater risk of bleeding, so your dose may need to be reduced. If its too low, your medication is not working sufficiently which may increase the risk of clots. Everyone dose of Warfarin or Coumadin is unique.
Frequent INR monitoring allows for a more accurate adjustment in your medication dose to achieve your 'Target INR'. Use My INR to help monitor your INR and treatment, minimising the risks of clots forming.
