For the best results, we recommend using USB for instantaneous response and a stable connection. WiFi performance is dependent on local network conditions, such as router quality and network congestion.
Micstream's desktop client features a tailored Windows audio driver designed specifically for a seamless PC mic experience. The 32-Bit depth support allows for a wider dynamic range and increased detail in your recordings.
To encode and decode audio data, we utilize the Opus codec, a royalty-free, highly versatile audio codec that is unmatched for interactive speech.¹ The low algorithmic delay of Opus (5-10 milliseconds) makes it the perfect fit for streaming audio from your phone to your PC.
For networking with your PC, Micstream uses the UDP protocol on ports 37718 to 37720. The UDP broadcasting feature enables automated client discovery in wireless mode. Micstream also uses FEC (forward error correction) to handle packet loss.
In development
• Noise suppression
• Real-time statistics on packet loss
