Microsoft Authenticator · Description
The Microsoft Authenticator lets you quickly and securely verify your identity online, for all of your accounts. A variety of features are available for all types of accounts.
Two-step verification:
Two-step verification helps protect your account by providing an extra layer of security beyond simply your password. Here's how it works – when signing in, after entering your password, you'll be asked for an additional way to prove it's really you. Either approve the notification sent to the Microsoft Authenticator, or enter the verification code generated by the app. With this feature, even if someone manages to find your password, they'll be stopped if they don't have access to your phone too.
Phone sign-in:
Introducing phone sign-in for personal Microsoft accounts! After enrolling your account through the app, you can sign in to your account with only your phone. Just approve the notification sent to the Microsoft Authenticator after entering your username. Available on most Android devices.
Device registration:
Some organizations require that you register your device before accessing certain files, emails, or apps. This way, they know that the sign-in request is coming from a trusted device. This can easily be completed through the app.
This app replaces the Azure Authenticator, Microsoft account, and Multi-Factor Authentication apps.
