Mobile Mouth Screening Anywhere (MeMoSA®) is a digital health platform for screening and early detection of oral cancer. Are you worried about an ulcer or lesion in your mouth? Oral cancer is one of the most common, yet fatal cancers in Asia with over 74% of all oral cancer deaths occurring within the continent. However, this disease can be prevented. Up to 80% of oral cancer cases are preceded by oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMD) that appear as red or white patches in the mouth which are easily visible, can be photographed and diagnosed by experienced specialists in a clinic. Mobile Mouth Screening Anywhere (MeMoSA®) is a digital health tool that is: 1. First of its kind - for remote consultation that facilitates screening and the identification of oral lesions for early diagnosis of high-risk oral lesions and oral cancer 2. Reliable and transfers information securely - tailored for both Android and iPhone users, enabling extensive implementation 3. Overcoming the scarcity issue - due to limited numbers of oral specialists in the country and region 4. Reducing barriers to diagnosis and care – by enabling the implementation of digital health with easy access to healthcare professionals In future developments of this app, an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled version will allow users to independently determine whether a lesion is at risk of being oral cancer.
