Mascarilla Digital is the official COVID-19 exposure notification app of Costa Rica, supported by the Ministry of Health of Costa Rica. By means of Mascarilla Digital, the user can voluntarily choose to activate the exposure notification system.
The exposure notifications consist of alert messages for the user when another user has tested positive for COVID-19 and he/she decides to notify his/her close encounters with other devices that use Mascarilla Digital.
Mascarilla Digital is a tool used by the Health Ministry of Costa Rica which is part of the world standard lead by Apple and Google so its users protect themselves from the virus.
This functionality is private and confidential, it does not store sensitive information that allows to identify the user and it does not share any location data with another device or entity such as the Health Ministry, Apple or Google.
