Egyptian Arabic Dictionary · 説明
This is more than a dictionary: it is an extensive set of learning aids for students of Colloquial Egyptian Arabic. It is also useful for Egyptians who wish to improve or extend their English.
You can use it to:
- find a word (English or Egyptian) even if you don't know exactly how to spell it
- see lists of similar or related words
- browse through over 1,500 example sentences
- hear somebody saying the main forms of a word or an example sentence
- add words to a personal vocabulary list and learn them efficiently
- improve your pronunciation
- learn to read and write Arabic
- study Egyptian Arabic grammar, with examples and recordings
- use the player to study while you travel, prepare a meal or just relax
The Egyptian Arabic/English and English/Egyptian Arabic dictionary is comprehensive and up to date. Words are displayed in arabic, transliterated and phonetic writing, with recordings of all of the main word forms. For most verbs, a full translation of all cases and tenses is available.
The grammar document gives a complete summary of Egyptian arabic with examples and recordings.
The examples and translations are linked to the dictionary, so you can easily find examples of a word. You touch any word in an example or the translation to see its meaning, and also identify the corresponding word in the other language.
The vocabulary learning tool helps you to build, learn and revise your personal vocabulary list: it uses SRS (Spaced Repetition System) to provide fast and thorough learning.
The pronunciation tool is equally useful for people learning Egyptian Arabic and people learning English. You can select groups of words with similar letters or phonemes (sounds), hear somebody saying the word then record yourself and compare yourself to the correct pronunciation.
The reading and writing tool first introduces the letters of the Arabic alphabet, then tests your knowledge by showing and/or saying random words and checking that you can write them correctly.
The player feature is useful if you have time to study but you can't, or don't want to, stare at the screen. Once it's
started, it asks questions about your vocabulary, reads out examples and their translations or repeats the pronunciation of similar words.
