Angel is a religious term. Angel is the general name given to heavenly creatures believed in many religions. The duty of angels is to serve God. In every religion and belief in which there is belief in angels, the concept of angel differs.

In Judaism, the angel, whose Hebrew is Mal'akh, is the name of the innocent creatures created by God to fulfill a specific mission. Angels do not have bodies in rabbinical Judaism, they are eternal creatures all created from fire, and in the Midrashim, they are depicted in competition with humans. Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, that is, the angel of death (Azrael).

Sadducees from the Jewish sects do not want to accept the belief in angels and jinn on the grounds that this belief has passed into Judaism from Babylonian and Iranian beliefs. Information about angels is widely used in Jewish apocryphal and rabbinic texts.

Christians assume a Jewish background regarding their belief in angels but stress their limitations. For Christians, angels are messengers of God who bring God's message, just like Jewish angels. Angels worship God, get notifications to human beings, and intercede to God for humankind.

Believing in angels is a part of the Islamic religious creed; that is, it is one of the principles of faith. Accordingly, a person who does not believe in the existence of angels in the religion of Islam and the angelic view of the religion of Islam does not become a believer. The subject is mentioned in the Qur'an in 2/285 and 2/177.

The number and types of angels are not fully specified in the religion of Islam, the Qur'an, or hadiths. However, some types of angels and their duties are mentioned both in the Qur'an and in the hadiths. In the religion of Islam, there are four archangels, primarily known as the four archangels. These are: Gabriel, Mikail, Israfil and Azrâil.
