Yarn alternatives are a comprehensive reference book on yarns sold on the Norwegian market. The app provides a quick and easy overview of different yarn properties, and all yarns are described with yarn quality, knitting strength, stick size and running meter. It is easy to search for one or more parameters.

The app also contains useful tips on how to proceed when you want to use an alternative yarn than what the recipe recommends. Favorites can be marked so that you can easily look up and plan yarn purchases. The app also allows you to search for yarn stores near where you are.


Tip # 1:
Seek up the yarn desired and click on the "Alternative yarn" button to quickly find yarn that fits with knitting gauge and pin size. NOTE: It is nevertheless recommended to knit sample patch to achieve the exact measure of the garment.

Tip # 2:
Store your own yarn and your own knitting gauge to easily have an overview of your own yarn favorites.

Tip # 3:
Enter several parameters in the search box separated by spaces: "20-22 wool cotton" - for example, will show all yarns with knit gauge 20-22 which also contain wool and cotton. By entering "-" in front of keywords, yarns containing this will be excluded from the results.

Tip # 4:
If the knitting pattern recommends a discontinued yarn, these yarns can be screwed on under settings so that these can also be searched.
