Audio quality
By default, Peggo does what you expect and records audio at the highest quality available. If a video's audio is available at 256 kbps, Peggo records a 256 kbps MP3. If a video's audio is only available at 128 kbps, Peggo records a 128 kbps MP3.
You can view the bitrates of YouTube's various formats on Wikipedia here (click [show] to the right of Comparison of YouTube media encoding options).
Most YouTube videos are recorded as 256 kbps MP3s.
Of course you can choose to record MP3s at a specific bitrate, too, like 128 kbps.
Silence removal and volume normalization
Peggo helps you maintain a consistent, harmonious MP3 library by performing two helpful operations on new recordings: volume normalization and silence removal.
Have you ever had to reach for the volume dial after changing TV channels, radio stations, or songs in your music library? The problem is that different content has different volumes, and online videos are no different -- some are quiet and some are loud. So you never have to reach for the volume dial between MP3s again, Peggo normalizes every recording to the same, comfortable volume.
Many videos also have silence at the beginning and/or end as part of intros or outros. The silence may be fitting when accompanied by video, but it's often jarring and undesired for audio-only listening. So you're never left with jarring silence between MP3s again, Peggo removes unwanted silence from the beginning and end of videos.
