Citizen App · Description
Citizen App is an Initiative by the Lesotho Government to fight the spread of COVID-19 through contact tracing.
The Citizen App sends and instant notification to individuals who may have been exposed to the Corona Virus through close contact with other Citizens App users. The app allows the Ministry of Health (MOH) through the National Covid-19 Secretariat (NACOSEC) to assist such Citizens with relevant care and guidance to seek assistance and protect those around them.
The app uses the Exposure notification, whereby the data is stored securely on the devices. This data only be shared with MOH if a Citizen test positive for COVID-19, for the sole purpose of contact tracing. Also, all Bluetooth data stored on the Citizen user’s phone is automatically deleted after 14 days.
The Citizen App helps all Lesotho Citizens to ensure the flattening of the curve by preventing further spread to the loved ones unknowingly. It also helps us support the work of Ministry of Health and Health practitioners by combating the spread of COVID-19 together. Moreover, the Citizen app will seek to address other economic stagnation challenges that grip the country by introducing online Citizen e-commerce services.
