Electrogoniometer · Description
Measuring range of motion (ROM) is important in the clinical setting. Measurements need to be accurate, especially when prescribing treatment to individuals with pathological movement. This is also important for patients returning from an operation and needing reevaluation. This app can be used as a readily available diagnostic tool at your fingertips to evaluate a patient’s hamstring tightness and ROM!
The phone can be situated at an unambiguous position, the angle is calculated by taking the difference of the device’s initial angular position from the second angular position. For example, measuring angles around the knee is performed by measuring the femur. Then between the centre of the greater trochanter and the lateral epicondyle of the femur and measuring the tibia between the lateral femoral epicondyle and the centre of the lateral malleolus, resulting in an angle measurement.
