DJK · Description
WHO IS DJK TODAY?
During the building years we had many requests “Why don’t you make your own DJK brand?” This was always something that intrigued us and was always a case of when, not if, it was going to happen. The time arrived just before the pandemic when we flew to different manufactures and started to research materials, colours, designs, styles, fits and packaging. The vision for the DJK brand has always been - DJK is a Belfast fashion house that incorporates elements of luxury into your lifestyle. We have got to know what our customers needed over the years and now know the quality, style and workmanship they expect to go into any product. Our collection is building now with the DJK brand with full focus having stepped away from the designer game. Going into 2023 with the vision for our new collections and also upcoming kids ranges. We are proud and grateful to have you on this DJK journey with us.
HOW WE STARTED
DJK was founded in 2015 then known as David James Kerr. The business literally started with David selling the coat off his back during a period of bankruptcy. Times were hard so unfortunately his beloved Stone Island jacket’s had to be sold on eBay. This sparked an interest as the jackets held around 50% off their value. This gave David the curiosity to use these funds to reinvest into other pre owned StoneIsland and CP Company jackets on eBay and flip them. Turning it into a small bedroom business. Outgrowing the bedroom, outgrowing a lock up, then moving to a retail premises and as they say the rest is history.
THE GROWTH OF DJK
Starting from humble beginnings selling pre owned Stone Island and CP Company we quickly grew it to a level of selling hundreds of jackets per week and wanted to expand into other brands such as Prada, Gucci, Moncler, Canada Goose and more. This all came at a time when we were learning everyday about designer fashion, trends, styles, materials, fits that would serve us greatly in the coming years. We then wanted to move and learn how to become an established name in the designer business and started speaking to suppliers, agents, distributors all around the UK and Europe, this all while building our social presence and online website www.davidjameskerr.com. We then began to get offered brands such as Weekend Offender, Lyle & Scott and also went on regular buying trips to Italy, quickly becoming one of the hottest destinations for deals on Stone Island, CP Company and many other Italian brands. With our famous Black Friday sale events crashing websites, people queuing up overnight and generating millions of pounds in sales. Having captured many Italian brands, processed hundreds of thousands of orders, the question always was what next for DJK?
