DJ Bach is a groundbreaking music creation app that combines algorithmic composition and emotional feedback using the innovative Tonamic method.

DJ Bach employs an ab initio approach without trainable parameters. It generates dynamic musical pieces by calculating tension and surprise from pitch dissonance values, offering three distinct ways to control the music:

1. Touch Controls and Manual Play: Use the on-screen 2D keypad like a musical instrument. Instead of triggering specific notes, you trigger desired levels of tension and surprise, which the algorithm then translates into a set of tones that match the prescribed levels relative to the previous notes. This unique concept allows for different sets of notes each time you press the same pad, maintaining the same tension and surprise. In the manual option, you can select the 'guided mode' preset, which displays note names on the keypad. This mode generates a single melodic line accompanied by bass notes.

2. Motion Control: Conduct a virtual orchestra by controlling the ranges of tension and surprise through device orientation while adjusting the tempo with accelerometer sensors. The music is composed and played instantaneously as you move your device like a magic baton.

3. EEG Headband Link (premium feature): Connect to a Muse EEG headband to link the range of tension and surprise to your measured valence and arousal, generating music that mirrors your emotional state.

In modes 2 and 3, the app produces two melodic lines with up to six accompanying bass notes. There is also an option to shuffle the instruments assigned to each track and add drums automatically. Only one control option can be used at a time, allowing for a personalized and adaptive music-generating experience. With DJ Bach, your emotional state becomes a symphony.
