The "Rīgas satiksme" mobile app was created to make purchasing public transport tickets more convenient and accessible. The app is designed for purchasing code tickets online and for use on trams, trolleybuses and buses. When boarding the vehicle, the ticket purchased on the phone must be activated by scanning the square code, which is located in several places throughout the vehicle cabin, or by entering the identification number that is visible below the square code. Each vehicle has a different square code and identification number. In case a controller boards the transport, open the app and present the registered ticket to the controller. Tickets must be used within three months of purchase. To buy travel tickets, your phone needs an internet connection.
